Hi there,

Yes it is okay to sell a .biz domain name. What is not allowed is
buying the .biz domain name for the purpose of selling it.

AfterNic does have thousands of them for sale:
http://www.afternic.com/index.cfm?a=auctions&sa=tld&tld=biz

- and it appears most of them are breaking the rules. And they can get
away with it as long as nobody complains. If the domain name is very
generic, then it would be unlikely that anyone would bother
complaining.

"Any allegation that a domain name is not used primarily for business
or commercial purposes shall be enforced under the provisions of the
Restrictions Dispute Resolution Process."
http://www.neulevel.biz/ardp/docs/reg_restrictions.html

The official information can be found at Neulevel.biz:

-------------------------------------------
Do .BIZ domain names have any restrictions?

Yes. The .BIZ domain can only be used for a "bona fide business or
commercial use". A bona fide business use is one of the following:

To exchange goods, services, or property of any kind;

In the ordinary course of trade or business; or

To facilitate (i) the exchange of goods, services, information, or
property of any kind; or, (ii) the ordinary course of trade or
business.

Registering a domain name solely for the purposes of (1) selling,
trading or leasing the domain name for compensation, or (2) the
unsolicited offering to sell, trade or lease the domain name for
compensation does not constitute a "bona fide business or commercial
use" of that domain name.

For illustration purposes, the following do not constitute a "bona
fide business or commercial use" of a domain name:

Using or intending to use the domain name exclusively for personal,
noncommercial purposes; or

Using or intending to use the domain name exclusively for the
expression of noncommercial ideas (i.e., registering abcsucks.biz
exclusively to criticize or otherwise express an opinion on the
products or services of ABC company, with no other intended business
or commercial purpose).

This questioner might be referring to cybersquatter laws and those
appply to all root domains whether .com .net .org or .biz. There is
much activity in this area of law recently. I have seen some companies
protect their intellectual property vigourously while others ignore
those that infringe and allow them to do so. Laws are often vague and
until questioned often activities go unnoticed. You might want to read
what InterNIC says on this:

http://www.internic.net/faqs/udrp.html

Hope this helps.
