I need to identify 4 or 5 well known books that are re-issued
annually. I can think of Guinness Book of World Records, and maybe
the Farmers Almanac, but nothing else. Help! |

If you do a search at Amazon.com on the term [ 2005 ] -- and restrict
your search to books only -- you'll get a list of lot of annuals and
almanac type publications, including:
The World Almanac and Book of Facts 2005
2005 Writers Market
2005 Photographers Market
2005 Children's Writers & Illustrator's Market
Guinness World Records 2005
2005 Physicians' Desk Reference
The Ernst & Young Tax Guide 2005
J.K. Lasser's Your Income Tax 2005
State of the World 2005
Dilbert: 2005 Day-to-Day Calendar
Kaplan New SAT 2005
and so on. You can also search on other terms, such as [ almanac ] or
[ yearbook ] to produce similar sorts of lists.
Are these the sorts of items you're after?

All very helpful and cogent comments. I should perhaps have tried to
focus more attention on the "well known" aspect, although I suppose
that depends on one's perspective. I guess I am looking for the "most
well known" of such annual re-issued / updated titles, a la Guinness.
But these are a helpful starting point.

If you haven't already, try the searches I mentioned on Amazon.com.
You'll get a long list of books as a result, and you can pick and
choose the ones that strike you as the most "well known". I think the
list I gave already has a lot of well-known items on it, but perhaps
you're looking for something even more familiar.
All the best,

Thanks for all the inputs. Pafalafa, I did the search you suggested
-- it looks like there are actually not that many annually re-issued
books that have the same recognition as the Guinness Book. The others
rapidly seem to relate to very specific topics that reach smaller,
more focused readerships.
