I want to know answers about a question on a paper mill company called MacMillan Bloedel's ( now is called Weyerhauser) in Port Alberni mill on Vancouver Island. MacMillan actually was a "closed shop" system which means everyone belongs to a traditional union, but after ward they wish to operate with an "open shop" environment, which means any people can work there. The union members see this as giving their jobs to nonunion members. Therefore they engage in a job action whereas the traditional workers went on strike. therefore, I want to know what happenend during the strike, I want to know the detail in their negociation and what happenend in the end, how did MacMillan dealt this situation and problem |
