Hello cayu,
I believe you are referring to strong chemical peels applied by a
dermatologist or home products which usually consist of fruit acids,
known as alpha hydroxy acids, AHA, or glycolic acid. In order to
?peel? the skin, one would typically use an acid of some sort to
dissolve the top layer of the skin. Chemical peels performed in a
dermatologist?s office use much stronger acids than products used at
home.
These are the ingredients commonly contained in facial peels:
Glycolic Acid(AHA)
Salicylic Acid (BHA)
Lactic Acid
Jessner?s Peel ( a combination of salicyclic acid, resorcinol and
lactic acid mixed in ethanol)
Resorcinol
TCA (Trichloracetic Acid) TCA is used in a variety of peeling regimens
such as AccuPeel and the Obaji Blue Peel.

?Glycolic peels contain medical concentrations of glycolic that are
administered in the office and need to be presented as a program with
frequent intervals in the beginning, increasing the duration and
concentration of glycolic as tolerated with each visit until a stable
endpoint of improvement is obtained at which time maintenance is
begun. These are comfortable and heal quickly so there is very little
downtime. I have seen nice improvement in fine wrinkle lines, texture,
and coloration and even softening of medium depth wrinkle lines with
this program. The next level of peel offered in my office is the
medium depth peel. The most popular product is low concentrations
(15-30%) TCA (tri chloro acetic acid).?

?Home peel kits tend to fall somewhere between very superficial and
superficial. They can be excellent for helping freshen skin, eliminate
blackheads, improve symptoms of oiliness and/or acne and renew
texture. Home peels usually rely upon glycolic acid (AHA) or blend
with salicylic acid (BHA). Guestimate that total levels of actives
will fall somewhere in the 20% range when looking at do-it-yourself
products. Certainly chemical peels for home use in the 30+ range
should be approached with care. Glycolic acid at 30% enters into
potential medium level peel, particularly if misused.
Acid is acid, so anytime a peel regimen is used at home, it is
important to follow the directions. Acids are neutralized during the
routine to stop their action. This prevents inflammation,
discoloration or chemical burns for occurring. Most mainstream brands
have been thoroughly tested and have well proven safety records. But
?rogue? peels without any major brand behind them may be suspect.?

This page provides some sources of facial peels you can make, using
foods from your kitchen.
?Fruit acids are great for the skin because they loosen the glue
between dead skin cells, and the cells fall away, leaving the face
very smooth and soft. You'll be amazed at how easy it is to produce
fabulous results for your skin that you would imagine only the most
expensive and sophisticated products you could buy could do.
Avoid using these homemade peels if your skin is sunburned, and before
going into the sun.
Malic acid: Apples, vinegar, applesauce, cider
Lactic acid: Buttermilk, yogurt, powdered skim milk, sour cream,
blackberries, tomatoes
Tartaric Acid: Grapes, grape juice, wine, cream of tartar
Citric Acid: Citrus fruits such as lemons, limes, grapefruit, and orange
Glycolic acid: Sugar cane
All you need is about one half a teaspoon of liquid per face
cleansing. You can freshly squeeze the juice of one lemon, for
example, and refrigerate the leftovers for the rest of the week. Just
dab some of the juice onto your fingers and pat on your face. Leave on
for 10 minutes or so before rinsing. If you are in a rush, just cut a
grape or strawberry in half-whatever you happen to have on hand-and
rub it over your skin; let the juice set for a few minutes, and then
rinse.?

The following products contain acid, but are milder than medically
performed peels. They are not as abrasive as most store bought
products.

?Dr. Bartell offers patients two exceptional programs--NeoStrata@ and
Refinity Medical Solutions--both of which utilize high strength Alpha
Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), commonly called "fruit acids" because they occur
naturally in fruits, vegetables and sugar cane. For AHAs to produce
maximum results, a high level of acid must be made available to the
skin. The higher the level of acid, the greater the exfoliation or
skin renewal and the better the results.?

About Kinerase Products
?Looking good feels good.
Today, you have more choices than ever for helping reduce fine lines
and wrinkles. But if you use topical retinoids, you may be trading
wrinkles, blotches, and dryness for burning, redness, and peeling.
Thanks to the development of Kinerase with 0.1% N6-furfuryladenine,
you have the ability to help reverse the signs of photoaging with
virtually no skin irritation.
Looking Younger...Naturally.
Furfuryladenine is a natural plant growth factor that retards the
aging process in plants. Cut leaves dipped in a solution containing
furfuryladenine will remain green, while untreated leaves turn brown.
Studies have shown furfuryladenine to have a similar effect in vitro
on human skin cells, helping to slow and reverse alterations that
naturally occur in the cell-aging process.
Scientifically Proven Results.
In clinical studies conducted by a dermatology department at the
University of California, Irvine, Kinerase was shown to help improve
the signs of photoaging. After 24 weeks of treatment, physicians saw
improvement in 100% of kinerase patients. Improvement was seen in
roughness, blotchiness, and fine wrinkles. -Kinerase Leaves Skin With
a Smoother Look and Feel. Kinerase provides moisturizing qualities
that outshine and outlast other moisturizing products you may be
using. While some of these products may temporarily lessen the
appearance of fine lines through improved hydration, that effect
disappears a few hours after application. Kinerase enables the skin to
retain more moisture, leaving it with a softer, smoother feel.
-Kinerase is not an Acid and Won't Burn Like One.
Unlike many other skin care products, Kinerase is non-acidic and won't
burn or irritate your skin. In fact, patients using Kinerase in
clinical studies experienced virtually no side effects.
-No Drug or Product Interactions. Kinerase has no known interactions
with drugs or other products. And because there is virtually no
irritation, you can use Kinerase in the morning before you apply
makeup, in the daytime along with sunscreen, or with other
appearance-enhancing products in the evening before bedtime.
-A Sunny Day for Antiaging. Kinerase causes no increase in
photosensitivity - a condition common among antiphotoaging therapies
and characterized by burning, itching, and peeling with sun exposure.
Since sun avoidance is recommended in any skin care program, a
sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher should be used. With Kinerase,
you're free to carry on your normal daily activities without
additional sun restrictions?

Neova Products
---------------
?Neova is THE Copper Peptide Skin Care product line for skin
rejuvenation, manufactured by Procyte Corporation. It Contains TWICE
the amount of copper peptide compared to other well known copper
products on the market.FRAGRANCE FREE!!
Medical studies show that copper does indeed play a beneficial role in
skin rejuvenation in addition to what was already known about it?s
helpfulness in wound healing.
By stimulating production of collagen, elastin and GAGs,
(glycosaminoglycans which act as the "glue" between cells), copper
helps in the repair of sun damaged skin.
Copper also acts as an antioxidant and is used by certain enzymes to
help build healthy skin tissues.
Neova was devised as an elegant skin rejuvenation product line to help
smooth out unwanted signs of aging skin changes. Helps hydrate dry
skin and makes dull, lifeless skin appear more youthful. May be
incorporated with other rejuvenation products to broaden your regimen
and help enhance your overall results.?

Additional Information:
?Q. Is a glycolic acid facial peel uncomfortable?
A. It is not unusual to experience a tingling sensation, a slight
stinging or mild redness lasting for several minutes. This is how a
peel works, dissolving the chemical bonds to release the dead cells
from the skin's outermost layer. Each person's tolerance for this
sensation is different. Those wanting a more aggressive schedule, will
experience some irritation and redness. Those choosing more time
between visits and milder formulations naturally will experience less
or none. The initial consultation with your doctor will help both of
you select the best schedule for you.?

?Another adaptation of clinic-administered procedures entering the
home is the introduction of the at-home microdermabrasion machine. One
such device is marketed by a cosmetic company in conjunction with a
dermatologist. It operates on the same principle as professional
microdermabrasion machines, but probably cannot produce quite the
degree of exfoliation in a single pass. Dermatologists may wish to
question patients about the use of this device, as well, since it
potentially could alsoproduce artificially created sensitive skin.?
