Perhaps this will answer your question. Aquasta?- Natural Astaxanthin http://216.239.57.104/search?q=cache:eRchqPm6qLgJ:www.tateandlyle.co.uk/TateAndLyle/products_applications/product_brochures/americas/default.htm+Aquasta+natural+astaxanthin&hl=en Astaxanthin is a naturally occurring nutrient that delivers characteristic colour to the flesh of salmon and trout. It is essential for salmon reproduction and increases resistance to disease. Wild salmon obtain astaxanthin in their diet but it must be provided to farm-raised salmon. Aquasta? is a natural product produced by the fermentation of carbohydrates. Astaxanthin is the pigment used to get the orange color into trout and salmon flesh. Just last year, trout marketers were forced to label their product as containing pigment additives for color enhancement. With this new process, a fermentation using a strain of yeast, no special labeling will be needed. What is even better is that this product (Aquasta tm) has already been approved for use in foods in the United States. |
