I need a 750- to 900-word fiction piece of a father/daughter
experience. It must be suitable for 9th or 10th grade in public
schools and clean. It could be something like fishing. I will need the
author, copyright information, name of book or magazine (issue) where
published. There is a $10 bonus if it is in public domain.

There's one here that seems about the right length and content. It
opens weakly, but has a good finish:

Is this the sort of thing you're after...?

Hi, I am under many constraints on this one. Among the topics NOT
permitted are divorce (hard to believe in these times), disease,
suicide, war, weaponary, violence of any kind, disasters, fires,
earthquakes, torndoes, terrorism, anything that can be assoicated with
9/11/01 attacks, slavery, hunting. drugs, abuse, poverty, running
away, upsetting family situtations, child abuse, fights, bullying, sex,
religion and holidays associated with religion, magic, abortion,
welfare, controversila topics such as discrimation of any sort. Pretty
limiting isn't it. The best way I can think to describe is along the
lines of a "Leave it to Beaver" episode. Thanks for your suggestion
although I can't use it. I can really use the help on this one.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for (I haven't read the
book, but I came across it when I was searching for gifts for Father's
Day), but you might see if "Falling Backwards: Stories of Fathers and
Daughters" is available at your local library. The book is 328 pages
long and features 19 short stories, so I think most (if not all) of
the stories would go over your 900-word limit. But it might be a good
resource, so I thought I'd pass it along.

Good luck finding something!
