May I comment by asking Questions & Comments some points, the team
I'm part of is involved with some questions like you do with their
COMmunication plan.
I think I understand your purpose and I wish I could access the answer
you will get on later and help with those abstractions of a very
complex process of fitting technology needs for individual and
commercial communication system.
If you can reformulate your idea, if possible to reedit it or comment
yourself the question like I did, the following questions-answers,
would help for futur answer.
HERE are the questions|Comment I have in my mind:
1. You need external storage capability Right ? Such as LACIE Products
Desktop Hard-drives 500gig-1terabytes of disk space etc.

in order to store for example: 2000 hours of video uncompress, 10000
hours of video compressed or low-resolution. (From different sources
like Commercial, Video-clip, movie extraction of specific scenes
etc)??

regular system software (such as Microsoft Windows 2000|XP, MAC OS X
10.x, Linux variances) can mount filesystem (accessible DATA
information such Video, image etc) in the way your software solution
would access it as storage device (Externaly, enabling physical
hardware to be movable from one system to another similar system
configuration, using idealy same configuration (software+hardware)
except the device for sharing the video from one place to another.)

If you think of how the data is presented.
You have 2 basics conceptions :
1. First is YOU:>The service provider and 2:> your customer(EU)
which is the user that access the device the way you plan it into your
COMMUNICATE(COM) plan)
(I would easy say, Administration view and Customer view (the one who
pay you ;) , call it the END-USER(EU) way to present data) that's the
most important module.

So the admin module will allow you to administrate the I/O
(INPUT/OUTPUT) of Video Data, such as name thing, set keyword etc.
The Customer view(EU) will guide your client to create DVD with
specific Video-DATA.
As you can see. Depending of your general knowledges & experiences in
computer technology, dealing with GUI(GRAPHICAL-USER-INTERFACE) to
present both the ADMIN and the CUSTOMER(EU) modules (maybe other
modules in your conception may need development depending of your
communication plan, let's just talk of those 2 ones.) could be
PROGRAMMED and DIRECTED by Web site access (Browser view).
Using various technology from different compagny offering COM
possibility conception.

and create your need.
Here is example of what API access to Software can give you.
- Access to burn DVD with the system (You dont have to control the DVD
burner, just ask the right way the API to do it with Programmers
access)
- Search your video DATABASE in order to show the client what he wants.
- Search the Pre-defined DVD LAYOUT you have created to be burned with
DVD burn module
- PAY by Credit card the bill.
etc.
** There is no limit except your imagination.
I hope all of this could help, the Computer Technology is very wide
and the Oriented Object Programming would be your solution, as no
software really supply all the need businesses have, engaging the
procedure of conception, implementation and finaly the use of the
IN-HOUSE software would be my advise. That may include various already
in the market solution such (Nero burn tool, APACHE httpd web server,
Mozilla, IExplorer... As they supply API access to their programs, you
can buy licenses and use part of what they already programmed,
basicly, you save time and money by buying something you need to
present a different way they do !!) And also protect your investement
into technology development by not sharing the real sources of your
system part.
As I'm not recognized by this system as a professionnal (as goggle say
in the TERMs & Conditions), somewhere else I do, in my way and the way
I work and with who I do :)
