I would like to retrieve a list of the following company information
for all companies listed on the three major stock exchanges: NYSE,
NASDAQ and AMEX. For each company I need:
1. Company Name
2. Website address
3. SIC code(s) or description(s)
The information must be in electronic text form, ideally as an Excel or CSV file.
I have tried the stock exchange sites but none offer a download of this information. |

Hi!
When you say "SIC code(s) or description(s)", so is it ok if we put
description only instead of SIC Codes?
Example:
Google
://www.google.com/
Description: Computer Services
Thanks!

As long as the description text matches exactly that description of
either a US SIC or NAICS code (any year) - a free range text
description isn't suitable.
So for example, a company which is listed under NAICS code 423430, a
category which is described in the NAICS classification as "Computer
and Computer Peripheral Equipment and Software Merchant Wholesalers"
must contain either the number 423430 or the description text given
above, but should not be described by any other text.

Alternatively, a classification scheme other than SIC/NAICS may be
acceptable if it has been defined and the companies have been
classified by a reputable source e.g. D&B, Hoovers etc.

stevod1966-ga,
Whoa! That's going to be quite a list!
I can get you close.
I have access to a list of more than 12,000 public companies, with
name, address, and SIC code -- no websites, though.
A typical record looks like this:
CAPITAL BEVERAGE CORP
1111 EAST TREMONT AVENUE
BRONX
NEW YORK
10460
SIC CODE: 5180
PHONE: 7184092337
The list is in .xls format, and each line above is a separate field.
Again, no URL's.
I've done a fair amount of work in the past looking for -- and
compiling -- lists of public companies, and I really don't think the
URL list is in existence.
Let me know what you think.

I'm afraid the website is an essential part of the list.

Stevod,
Like I said, I've never seen such a list available...even commercially.
If you do happen to come across it, I'd greatly appreciate your
posting some information about it here.
Thanks,
