UNICEF statistics at http://www.unicef.org/files/Table5.pdf claim that 82 percent of the world's children enrol in primary school, while between 80 % (administrative figures) and 89 % (survey figures) reaches grade 5. Multiplicating thes numbers indicate that between 65 and 73 percent of the world's children complete primary school (1995-2001 data). More detailed figures can be found at the above address. Search strategy: I went to UNICEFs website at www.unicef.org, made a search for "education", clicked at "Girl's education" (http://www.unicef.org/girlseducation/), then at "statistics" which gave me the link refered to above. | |
