I need to find out which web company hosts www.cycletunes.ws -- I am taking over the graphics on the site and already have the ftp info and passwords I need. Nowhere on their site or ANYTHING gives me a hint on hosting info. The company I am building the site for doesn't have a clue about computers. And when I asked who hosted their site, they just shrugged their shoulders. All they know is that they are paying $29.99 a month for web hosting that includes an e-commerce package and they know "for a fact" that O.E.M. (whatever that stands for) could possibly be their hoster. I have searched EVERYWHERE to find out who OEM is and have found nothing. I just need to know who the site is hosted with. I have done a whois search at register.com and godaddy.com and neither of them tell where it is hosted. |

Hi psychofairy! When I need to know who is hosting a website, the first thing I do is feed the URL to NeoTrace, a traceroute utility I purchased some years back from Neoworx Software. NeoTrace shows, on a map, how many hops from my computer to that host is, and reveals the Registrant and Network information at the end of the trace. This is the information that NeoTrace provided for me: Hop IP Address Name Network #9 216.71.202.233 www.cycletunes.ws OLM,LLC Network Information OLM,LLC (NETBLK-OLM-03) 3080 Ogden Ave Milford, CT 06460 US Netname: OLM-03 Netblock: 216.71.0.0 - 216.71.223.255 Maintainer: OLM Coordinator: Administrator, Dns (DA16-ARIN) dns@AXXS.NET 630-357-8538 (FAX) 630-357-8545 Domain System inverse mapping provided by: NS.HOST4U.NET 207.58.117.9 NS2.HOST4U.NET 209.150.128.15 ...and there you have it. The page is hosted by OLM.net: OLM.net - Web Hosting Solutions @ Your Service http://pre.olm.net/index.htm You can contact OLM here: 800-741-6813 203-445-7700 sales@olm.net I hope this helps! If I can be of further assistance, don't hesitate to ask! --Missy |

Hi psychofairy You can obtain similar information online, without needing the NeoTrace utility that missy uses from a number of 'whois' sites, but the prettiest (in that it presents you with a graphical map of the world showing you where your connection really goes) is probably VisualRoute's 'live demo' of their product which can be accessed online at http://www.visualware.com/visualroute/livedemo.html Once the trace is complete you can click on the 'OLM' name in the right-most column to get the same whois data that you've got in the answer to your question. So if you ever lose a client's system again you now know how to find it! Regards iaint-ga |

THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!! You two have been SOOOOO helpful! Thank you for responding so quickly and so professionally. I was kind of expecting a 12 year old on the other line to say - "Nope. Can't find it." You have no idea how happy you have just made me just from that info.... I know where I'm going next time I gotta question..... this place is too awesome! |

You don't need to use the NeoTrace utility, as the ping tool that comes with all Windows version can be used to determine the IP address of any domain name. Simply open the command prompt console and type in ping www.cycletunes.ws and it will give you the IP address of the server. With that information, you can search a Reverse IP lookup service online to see who registered the domain. |
