I would like to build an outdoor-fenced-in-dog-run for my dog. I live
in Los Altos, CA and would like to know who would be the cheapest
person/contractor for the job? I'm hoping to have someone lay a block
of cement and anchor a chain link fence to the cement. Also, what are
the recommended dimensions for a dog run?

The size of your dog run depends on your dog’s size and breed. The
link suggested below shows a portable dog run for small-medium dogs.
You may use the sizes that they posted. However, if you have a breed
that requires constant excersize (for example, a greyhound) then you
would probably want to extend the dog run.

The following link provides a list of all the general contractors in
Los Altos, California.

General Contractors

I was going to research them, but these businesses do not provide
websites or information. These calls would be local for you, though,
so you wouldn’t end up spending that much money. You could always also
buy the portable dog run that I mentioned earlier. I don’t think that
this is much of an answer, but I’ll keep searching.

Can't say whether he's the cheapest, but I can refer you to a
contractor who has done some good work for me in the past.

TLC Construction
123 Dundee Dr.
South San Francisco, CA 94080
650-757-5575

The guy's name is Tony Coates (probably the "T" and "C" in the company
name).

Coincidentally, Yahoo Maps lists "Fence Contractors" as a related
search for him, so that might be a specialty of his.
