I would like to watch U.S. TV upon my return to Germany, especially
Court TV. Is there any legal possibility to do that (NOT tapping the
US Army TV)? I heard about location Free TV from Sony but it seems to
be only confined to the country where you are logged on. Moreover, I
heard from a guy in the States who watches Russian TV in the U.S. and
wants to market it. I could not find his name again. So my question is
again: How can I
watch U.S. TV overseas (I know that some channels are available over
some European Satellites). But I want the full load!

Ralf,

I don't think that this is possible (specifically regarding Court-TV I
checked, and this is unfortunately not possible),in any case, not "the
full load" and not legally: -
- Some networks are local ;
- Some networks are national, but do not transmit to Europe; even some
international channels have different stuff in Europe and in the US
(most notable, at least to me, CNN).
- Some networks are cable only.

As far as I know, army TV (if it still exists in Germany) does not
have the same channels like you might have at home.

You solutions in Germany, if you choose to watch only *some* networks
(what's legally available in Germany):
- Contact Premier, for their American channels;
- See what is available on satellite, if you put your own dish (most
probably very little, I'm afraid).

I don't know if it's much of a comfort (I don't think so), but this is
quite a common problem, and I wonder who'd start with the
"personalised" TV networks, that go with you, no matter where you are
geographically. This would be a real hit. See others with the same
problem:

I live in Europe and can tell you that as far as I know, you can't get
real American TV over here unless you have an Armed Forces Network
box. Even if you have every cable and satellite package available to
the general public, you still can't get, for example, ESPN, CBS or
Court TV.

Your best bet for getting the most American TV shows is to get a
British address and a British Sky receiver. Also, I've heard some
television channels over hear broadcast with dual audio (what we call
"SAP" in America), so make sure whatever TV set you get has that
capability and you may be able to get some more programs in their
original English.
