My computer no longer reacts to Ctrl+F4 or ALT+F4 in Windows (XP)
[i.e. command to close windows].  Any thoughts on how to restore this?

Have you installed other software which may be interfering with those
keys?  Intervideo WinCinema Manager is one such application, but there
are others.

Hi - thanks for the thought.  Your suggestion is indeed a possibility,
though who do I find out what software it is (it happened just like
that, not after an installation).  Best
