I have a Motorola V600 cell phone and an HP nc6000 laptop. Both have
built-in Bluetooth functionality but the laptop does not recognize the
phone as a Bluetooth device. I'm running Windows XP Pro and I'm using
what I believe to be the latest driver for the HP Bluetooth module
(3.00 E). Here is the support and download page for the laptop:

Other Bluetooth devices are recognized by it so I know it's working,
but it just doesn't see my phone. It would appear that this my
particular phone is not supported, although that seems odd since the
V600 is arguably one of the most common Bluetooth enabled cell phones
on the market, at least in the US.

So my question is this: How can I get my laptop to recognize my V600
phone, such that I can successfully synchronize it with my computer? I
would also be satisified with knowing that it just doesn't work and
that I have to buy an external USB Bluetooth dongle.

I'm very familiar with both cell phones and PC laptops and have
scoured the web for an answer.

The old driver did the trick. Here's the thing though, I thought I had
already tried it. My laptop came with *some* driver installed, though
I'm not sure which, but it didn't work. Immediately, my thought was to
update to the latest driver, which I did. When I saw that there was an
older driver on the web site, I assumed that that's what my laptop
must have come with originally. Apparently that's not the case. The
3.00 B version ended up being the only one that recognizes my V600.

frankpayne-ga:

There is no indication on websearches that they are incompatible (I
have a Motorola V-600 and it has worked with every bluetooth computer
I have tried it with).

It seems silly for me to ask if the bluetooth functionality on the
V600 is turned on, but check that. If it is, you can try it with some
other PC that is bluetooth equipped and at least narrrow down the
problem to the device (phone or PC). I take it from your (?) post

that you know there are two driver files with version 3.0 (I have not
personally verified that claim) and you are usign the latest one of
those.

Good luck!
