Dear plains-ga

Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting question.

The fastest production car on the current market is the Swedish made
Koenigsegg CCR, with and 806 hp supercharged V8 engine capable of an
acceleration rate from 0-60mph in 3.2 seconds and a top speed 245
miles per hour plus (I guess they were too afraid to see ?exactly? how
fast it will go). It?s companion model, the CC8S has a 655hp engine
that reaches 60mph in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of about 242
mph.

The sticker price? Don't know. Apparently potential buyers have to
contact the manufacturer for a quote.

I hope you find that my research exceeds your expectations. If you
have any questions about my research please post a clarification
request prior to rating the answer. Otherwise, I welcome your rating
and your final comments and I look forward to working with you again
in the near future. Thank you for bringing your question to us.

0-60 MPH = 2.6 seconds - 1994 Dauer 962 LeMans

1994 Dauer 962 LeMans

Powering the 962 is the same 2994cc water-cooled Porsche flat-six
found in the race car. A pair of intercooled KKK turbochargers are
employed and the engine has 'softer' cams for more tractable driving.
Thanks to racing catalytic convertors and Bosch Motronic 1.7 engine
management, the 962 meets European emissions regulations. Attached to
the engine is a unique transmission that uses the normal 962 manual
box and clutch. But instead of using a gear lever, the driver select
ratios via the Tiptronic S style knobs on the steering wheel.

At 1080kg, the 962LM may weigh around 180kg more than the 962 racecar,
but its power-to weight ratio is still better than the McLaren F1's.
In a drag start, 0-60mph takes around 2.6 seconds in first gear! Five
seconds later you have doubled your speed again. Ultimately a shade
over 250mph is possible. A top speed test was conducted on the
Ehra-Leissen VW test track, where 404.6 kph was achieved.

The W16 alloy engine developed by Bugatti for the Veyron 16.4 will
have a special and absolutely unique place in the history of sports
car construction. Its design employs the space-saving VR principle
with two particularly slender eight-cylinder blocks arranged at a 90°
angle to each other.

1001 horsepower equip the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 with a level of
acceleration unheard of in the sports car segment, propelling it from
0 to 60 mph in just three
seconds and past the 200 mph mark in a mere 14 seconds. Thanks to its
923 lb-ft, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4?s enormous propulsive power is not
exhausted until it reaches
252.3 mph (406 km/h): the maximum speed for which chassis and drive
train have been designed. Any further performance escalation is
limited by current design and construction.

Also unique is the power transmission via an innovative directshift
gearbox. Without any interruption in the power flow, the sequential
seven-speed gearbox transmits the engine?s power to the wheels via
permanent four-wheel drive. Put simply, this means uninterrupted
acceleration from a standing start to maximum speed: a feeling
previously known only to jet pilots.

Obviously noone in google keeps up on the facts that there is a new
fastest production car in the world. It is also the most expensive
car ever built. Before that was the Maclaren F1, wich had a 24 carrot
gold firewall. If anyone is really interested then check out the
Nismo Z-Tune Skyline. When tested it is predicted to be the fastest
production car ever tested. Beating all current records by more then
.6 of a second. IF anyone has any questions about cars contact me at

Funny you should bring this up. I intended to post this film clip I
found just a few days ago, but here is it is a bit late.

At the time the answer was originally posted almost a year ago the
Bugatti Veyron was still a concept car. Since you seem to be so well
tuned to the inner workings of both Bugatti and Google I'm surprised
you didn't already know that. Oh well, that's what we're here for - to
research and learn.
