I tried asking this question, but was not charged as the information
was apparently available for free. Unfortunately I could not find the
answer but I have double the cost of my question.

I am not sure if my new technology is stopping or making my site
appear incorrect, and it has happened to a few recently re-developed
websites.
://www.google.com/search?q=sunglasses+shop&hl=en&lr=&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2003-35,GGLD:en&start=10&sa=N
(search for ?sunglasses shop?) on page 2 will shop
www.sunglasses-shop.co.uk but without any information for title or
description. I am not sure if I have done something wrong, or if the
new changes has made the information disappear. It has happened to 3
of my sites at the moment, so I have put all new changes on hold until
I know what is wrong. Is it making new changes to the site that has
removed this information or is something wrong with the technology/
content?

Hi,
Thanks for spotting this. I have added to the home page, but the
<HTML> is still in place on for example:
http://www.sunglasses-shop.co.uk/aviator-sunglasses.asp - - the
ranking is still there, but the cache has disappeared from Google. Can
you see/ tell me why this is?
Thanks
Daniel

You have zapped the very first line: <HTML>

<HTML> ... </HTML>
This element identifies the document as containing HTML elements. It
should immediately follow the prologue document identifier
  and serves to surround all of the remaining text, including all
other elements. That is, the document should be constructed thus :

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN">
<HTML>
Here is all the rest of the document, including any elements.
</HTML>

The HTML element is not visible upon HTML user agent rendering and can
contain only the <HEAD> and <BODY> elements.
