I am a fan of foreign music and buy a lot of import CDs. Sometimes I will also buy the foreign edition of a popular American group because they sometime contain additional tracks. These imports are always much more expensive than a standard US issue. To protect them I often burn copies (which, to my knowledge, is not illegal since I own the actual CDs). However some of these CDs are enhanced CDs where I cannot find the .wav files to copy and the copy programs that I have tried will not let me copy to a CD-R and will only let me copy to DVD-R which I cannot play on my car stereo. I have done managed to make burned CDs containing only the music files before, but I forgot how I did it. Any ideas? |

You haven't said what kind of operating system your computer uses. Yes, enhanced CDs can be difficult to manage. I'm a Mac user who uses Toast to burn CDs. When working with enhanced music CDs, though, I have to first use an extra program, Toast Audio Extractor, too. TAE lets me save the tracks to my HD and then I burn them using Toast. You can read about Toast and its complimentary applications here http://www.adaptec.com I've never tried burning a music CD with a Windows computer, but I have to think that there are similar applications available to you. By the way, I'm used to seeing CD audio files in AIFF format when I burn them to CD. G'luck, dtc |

Thanks for the advice. I'm a Windows XP user so I'll have to look for a different application, but thanks for pointing me in the right direction. |

I haven't tried this, but you may find this link helpful: http://www.cdman.com/technical/enhanced.html There are Windows digital audio extractors available; just google for them. |
