I have a US Robotics V courier everything data/fax modem connected to
a Red Hat Linux 9.0 box.  How can I see the modems driver/port
settings and change them?  For example the port speed, data bits, bit
stops, etc.  Thank you.

To see the settings of the serial port, use the command 'setserial', 
as in: 

setserial -a /dev/ttyS0

The same can also be used to modify the settings (note that unless you change
the permissions of /dev/ttyS0, you may need root priviledge, or to belong to 
the tty group). 

You can communicate with the modem using AT commands; a description 
is available at 
http://www.zoltrix.com/support_html/modem/USEMODEM.HTM

To use the modem to connect to the internet, I advise you to 
read the ppp-howto documentation (Google for it).
