I have a US Robotics V courier everything data/fax modem connected to a Red Hat Linux 9.0 box. How can I see the modems driver/port settings and change them? For example the port speed, data bits, bit stops, etc. Thank you. |

To see the settings of the serial port, use the command 'setserial', as in: setserial -a /dev/ttyS0 The same can also be used to modify the settings (note that unless you change the permissions of /dev/ttyS0, you may need root priviledge, or to belong to the tty group). You can communicate with the modem using AT commands; a description is available at http://www.zoltrix.com/support_html/modem/USEMODEM.HTM To use the modem to connect to the internet, I advise you to read the ppp-howto documentation (Google for it). Good luck! - plamp |
