In the 80's there was a game where the Eagles found themselves late in
the 4th quarter, with the game pretty much won. All they had to do is
fall on the ball a couble times.

However they decided to go for some extra yards, even though they were
deep in their own territory (no where near feild goal range). Well,
they managed to fumble the ball and lose the game.

Could someone tell me when this game occured, and who it was against.
Thanks, Patrice.

Are you thinking of the Giants' fumble against the Eagles in 1978?

Yes, this is it. I guess I remembered some important detail incorrectly. Thanks.

Hi patrice29,

It's been a long time -- remembering that the Eagles were involved was
good enough to lead me to the answer. (I lived in the New York area
at that time and the years after, and thus I heard several reports and
reminiscences about "The Fumble" from unhappy sports reporters.)

Here again is the link on the NFL offical site:

I searched on Google for combinations of these words:

eagles
giants

pisarcik
edwards
