The google directory is derived from the data complied through the
"Open Directory Project" (ODP), http://dmoz.org/ . Sites submitted to
the directory are updated by volunteers - sometimes they are added
quickly, while other times it can take a long time for them to be
indexed. Once they are indexed in the directory, the ODP incorporates
them into a weekly "RDF dump", made available for free to anyone who
wants to use it.
Google is a "data user" of the ODP, which means that it has built a
directory based upon ODP data. Although new data is made available on
a weekly basis, most data users don't update every time new data is
made available. Most update every four to six weeks. Some update less
frequently.
A site can be indexed in the Google search engine without being
included in the ODP. That is what happened with your site - which is
why it appears in search results through Google, even though it does
not yet appear in Google's version of the ODP. The good news is that
your site was added to the ODP on July 11, and thus will be a part of
the next update of the Google directory.
