I wish to buy a copy, preferably used, of S. Ramon y Cajal's
"Recuerdos de mi vida: historia de mi labor scientifica." It's not a
rare book.
The book was originally published in 1917 but has since been reprinted
2 or 3 times -- as recently as 1995. The publisher in 1995 was Alianza
Editorial, S.A, 10/1995, Madrid. 504 pages in 20 x 13 paperback. ISBN:
84-206-2290-7 However, any edition will do. It has two volumes and I
need them both. Bookstores seem to have a hard time finding copies. I
saw it on sale for $400, which is a ridiculous price. I am willing to
pay up to 75 USD for it but even that's a high price. The price should
include shipping, certainly NOT by slow boat, if you find it in a
foreign bookstore. I want the edition in Spanish. I DO NOT want the
translation of it by Craigie or anyone else. I will be in London and
Oxford in mid-April, so if by chance you find it in either of those
places, I could pick it up. By the way, the price of the book in
Spain (new) was about 30$. But the single bookstore there claims it's
out of print.

popso --

I don't speak or read Spanish (and don't trust the machine
translation), but the book appears to be available at a Spanish
website for about $21.25USD, or $43.65USD, including shipping to the
U.S.

Here is a link to the book's listing page and ordering page at Casadellibro.com:

I don't speak Spanish, either. Hard to fil out their registration form
but I was able to send them an email. They're closed by now--I should
hear from them tomorrow. In the meantime, the US seller feels so
badly, she's been looking and thinks she's found it. My lirarian has
also found that Edition three (source of the translated version) is in
the Dartmouth Medical Library. They lend it until I can buy one. I'll
keep you aware. Good work and many thanks.
