I am looking for a full quote and citation for (approximately)this sentence "a man who walked down the street calling things by their proper name [or telling the truth?] would be struck down before he reached the first corner." Possibly Lord Dusany, or some other British artistocrat. Can anyone provide it? |

I could not find your quote online. It sounds familiar, and somehow I associate it with G.K. Chesterton. I hope another Researcher will be able to help. |

"He that would speak truth must first have one foot in the stirrup." (Tuurkish proverb) "A New Dictionary of Quotations on Historical Principles from Ancient & Modern Sources," H.L. Mencken, ed., (Knopf, New York 1962) at p. 1227. |
