Greetings....I have 2 seperate facilites in Haiti, each with a
broadband satellite connection, that I would like to establish VoIP
service to my headquarter's office in the USA. The VoIP service
should allow each facility to communicate with each other and also to
the US office. Not sure how to kick off this project or determine
suitable VoIP systems. Please let me know how I can better clarify.

You just need 3 digital-analog adapters. You can sign up with any
plan, request 3 adapters, send 2 to Haiti, and keep one here. Each
adapter will have a unique US phone number and all calls to each other
are free.

What type of service providers and plans do you recommend? Due to the
infrastructure of Haiti, no analog POTS service is available to the 2
facilities. Cell phones are current voice medium. Any work around
suggestions?

As long as you have high-speed internet access, the VOIP adapter
should work fine. You can then attach any ordinary phones to the
adapters and send calls thru the internet. No land line needed. The
other possibility is to use Skype (Skype.com) for free. I've heard
that the Skype call qualities are excellent, but have no direct
experience.

VOIP companies vary a lot in what they charge, but from what I've
seen, their call qualities are about the same (echos and statics can
be fairly bothersome at times). I have Broadvox Direct, which has
very poor tech support and web site account management page. There
are also Lingo and Vonage, AT&T Callvantage, etc.

You should definitly try Skype (http://www.skype.com/). I have been
creating a large directory of all the Skype phones and software
add-ons available for Skype at SummitCircle.com
(http://www.summitcircle.com/)... there are plenty of choices.

If you want your users to be able to continue to use "regular" phones
you can read the article I posted on SummitCircle.com
(http://www.summitcircle.com/wsnlinks/skypephones.html) explaining all
the different skype phone hardware options available.

There are all sorts of options that allow you to plug "regular" phones
into your computer and use Skype/or regular phone network.

Good Luck,
Phil.

a VoIP telephone system would allow you to link the 3 offices together
like one big phone system.
