Hi vaac,

Please let me know if this works:

"I have just installed Windows 98 on a new computer. I cannot find
anymore the fax utilities included in Windows 95.

You can find the Windows 95 fax program on your Windows 98 CD-ROM
under TOOLS\OLDWIN95\MESSAGE\US\AWFAX.EXE "

http://www.logicalbusiness.com/faq_13.htm

Run the awfax.exe and it will install.

Best regards,
Rainbow

Thanks, rainbow-ga, for your suggestion. Running
TOOLS\OLDWIN95\MESSAGE\US\AWFAX.EXE from the win98 installaion disk
results in some file installation activity which appears to intall
fax. Rebooting after that as requested does however show nothing on
the destop resembling a fax-sending or -receiving facility.

I also cannot find where and how to use microsoft office's spreadseet
(*.xls or *.xla ??) although files with this extension can be found in
the DOS prompt. I also cannot find the word processor.

Hi vaac,

Have you tried this?

"Run awfax.exe to install Fax, then select Start, Settings, Control
Panel. Double-click the Mail icon and click the Add button. If you
don't want to use Windows Messaging for your e-mail, uncheck Microsoft
Mail but leave Microsoft Fax checked. Click Next and follow the
wizard."

Hi vaac,

Unfortunately, I do not have the Windows 98 CD to assist you in the
step-by-step process of installing Microsoft Fax. The information I
provided in my clarifications was through searching the internet and
finding similar situations as you are in. Hopefully someone who has
gone through this process will be able to better assist you.

Best wishes,
Rainbow
