I would like the passenger list/manifest of The General Werder
departing Bremen in 1879 bound for New York. It may have continued on
to Galveston Texas. My grandfather was on it and my mother wants this
for some reason.

The following link will allow you to lookup the ship manifest by your
grandfather?s name.

Dear o0bigfoot0o-ga,

Let me offer you my advice: If you would like to be a Researcher, you
should get accustomed to doing thorough research. In this particular
case, you should have noticed that the data collection of the
Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild includes only one manifest of the
S.S. General Werder - from 1 April 1878. Since the question relates to
the year 1879, the source will not be too helpful unless once decides
to contact the transcribers to inquire whether they have access to
other manifests of the General Werder.

Presumably, "General Werder" did not continue to Galveston.

"7 July 1877-11 September 1886, Bremen - Southampton - New York (40
roundtrip voyages)"

"accommodation for 144 passengers in 1st class, 68 in 2nd class, 502
in steerage; crew of 88 to 100"

On one of these voyages General Werder "arrived at New York on 5 July
1879, from Bremen 22 June, via Southampton 24 June":

The same ship in the 1890's, renamed:
