hi- to clarify: i am under the impression that i must connect my HD
cable box from comcast with a DVI-D connection. Yet, my house is
hardwired with VGA cables. so, do u know of a VGA to DVI-D connector
or is there another way to connect the VGA to the cable box? maybe a
vga to s-cable?? or the USB port?

Hi rebbos-ga,

DVI-I has both analog(VGA) and digital, that is why there is a dongle for
connecting VGA->DVI-I and vice versa. But if you want to convert a DVI-D to
VGA (or otherwise), you cannot do with a simple dongle alone. VGA is analog,
DVI-D is digital and are not compatible. You could use a transcoder to do this,
but is not as cheap as a dongle. There is also the issue of HDCP compliance
for encrypted DVI-D streams.

Hope this helps.

get rid of the vga wire! thanks!
