I am going to relocate to the US from the UK in August 2005 for a minimum of 1 year with my girlfriend and 3 children. I have UK/US dual citizenship but my girlfriend, son and 2 stepsons are UK nationals. By far the most important issue in this question is which places in the mainland US offer the best quality of life for the most reasonable cost of living? We really do want to have our cake and eat it! We want the best possible sunny climate, lack of rain and the ability to rent a large and luxurious property (5 bed+, heated indoor or covered pool, jacuzzi, spacious grounds etc) for the lowest possible price. I own several internet companies back in the UK and so can telework wherever there is high speed internet access. I am after a list of the best three or more suitable locations. We also need to know what visa formalities my family will have to go through. We thought that the easiest route would be 6 month visitor visas with a trip back to the UK for them half way throught the year but suggestions are welcome. My girlfriend does not need to work although is a qualified nurse/PA (called a Health Visitor in the UK). |
