I recommend preparing questions for your attorney, the first of which
is whether they approve of your plan. Otherwise, I'd prepare myself
to accept a disadvantageous outcome without blaming the system or my
attorney.

Dear Lily123,

Please have your attorney attend. If I was your attorney, and I am an
attorney, I would ask to withdraw if you went without me. These
preliminary phases of the divorce are the MOST important phases of
your divorce. They set up how the rest of the case proceeds so
communications made at this time is drastically and seriously
important. Please listen. If you want to save money in the long run,
take your attorney now. Or you will get screwed and later it will be
too late to fix it.

Later, after the divorce, if there are minor issues with the children,
etc, you can file a motion and go in by yourself. It is okay to do
that and save money. But not now. Trust me. The wheeling and dealing
begins now, not at the divorce hearing. The case is pretty much over
before you ever get your day in court.

Dear helpfulharry:

Thank you very much for your answer. I have discussed this issue with
my atterny and he said since I have reached an agreement with my
stdex-written out but have not been signed yet- I can just go by
myself and tell the court I did so to save money and tell the court
that we agreed to settle. My atterny sound quite sure about it. Do you
think it make sense?

Yes, if you have talked to your attorney about this and he or she
agrees, I feel much better for your situation.
