My niece is a Junior in high school and has qualified for the Indiana
state track and field championships her Freshman & Sophomore year in
the 100 Meter Dash and in the 200 Meter Dash her Sophomore year. She
has an impressive resume as a sprinter.

She is also a very qualified singer. She has also qualified for state events.

We are looking to get her a track and field scholarship to college.
She wishes to study music in college and would like to stay in the
Midwest or go to the Northeast.

My question is two fold. What would be the best division 1 schools to
consider? and what are the best scholarship services to advise a
person on this decision?

Hello brookville-ga,

This is a tough question. It might be easier to get you an answer if
you posted two separate questions. I'd like to know what criteria you
want to use for evaluating "what are the best scholarship services"
before starting research. Finding an answer to your question about
track and field scholarships is a very different search. The same
researcher may not be able to get an answer to both questions and your
question will remain unanswered.

Here are some interesting statistics about track and field
scholarships to give you a better idea of the scope of the search.

----------------------------------------------
http://www.collegesportsscholarships.com/track-and-field.htm

The NCAA allows each division 1college track and field program 12.69
scholarships for men and 18 for women. In division 2 the ratio is 12.6
for men and 12.6 for women.

There are 271 division 1 and 148 division 2 colleges that offer track
and field scholarships for men. A total of 5,303.7 scholarships in the
NCAA alone. For women the total number in the NCAA is.8,510.

There are 252 division 1 and 101 division 2 colleges that offer Indoor
track and field scholarships for men. For women there are 290 division
1 and 108 division 2 colleges that offer Indoor track and field
scholarships.

I look forward to your clarification.

Ok, I see the confusion.

I guess three questions would be the best way to go:

1.) What would be the best schools to consider in the Midwest or
Northeast that have solid women's track & field programs that offer
scholarships and have first rate music and theater programs.

2.) Are the scholarship "brokers" or services out there worthwhile.

3.) If they are worthwhile, which ones have had the most success in
women's track and field.

I hope this clarifies things. Would this require me to pay further
money for the answer(s)?

Thanks

Roger

University of Maryland, College Park is a great school that not only
delivers a solid division one program, but their music program is
known worldwide, and their facilities are first class.

Having personally attended events and known graduates though the
program, I can tell you that their only sadness is having to leave the
program to graduate.

The University is full of eager, academically-focused students who are
usually in the top 15-25% of their class. The school is rich in many
ways, including money, culture, and education.

The ACC confrence is a very compedative place to compete. With
schools like Virginia Tech, Duke, Georgia Tech, and Florida, the best
of the best are in this confrence.

Hope I've satisfied an answer.
