Since there is no requirement to register if you code in HTML and virtually anyone can learn how to do it in a few hours, I seriously doubt there is any possible way to answer this question as posed. |

I believe that the previous poster is correct in their assertion that this request might be unreasonable. However, I imagine you would have better luck finding an approximation of the number of professional (paid) webdesigners in the U.S., because places like the Census Bureau get all giddy about putting out statistics on these sort of things, especially on professions. You might find more success in searching for this information, although it most probably would be an approximation instead of static numbers since the number of professionals grow dynamically every minute of the day, and some professionals are not so organized as to declare this as their profession, instead they get paid under-the-table. Good luck in your search, and if it is of any consolation, you can at least count me as one. I prefer HTML to javascript or XTML because it is simpler and more widely recognized, and I design webpages for my university. Goodluck in finding better answers and I am sincerely sorry that I could not be more help. Cheers, dexterpexter |

Acording to the World Wide Web Consortium w3.org aproximatly 1.9 million people were employed world wide as of June 2001 in the web design field. This does not guarantee that they write the html from scratch, as this number would be pretty much impossible to figure out. As for the staticstics on the programs I do not know however I could tell you what gets used most often. Front Page is used by virtually every Non-webdesign company in the creation of their webpages. If you are trying to get a job in the web design field knowing dreamweaver shows that you can use any of the others. Homesite is now pure html and is actually what I use but have never had an employer request that I know how to use it. Hope this helps, even if it wasn't quite what u were looking for. |
