Where on the internet can I find a copy of what the front page of the

Clarification of Question by marimar9318-ga on 14 Feb 2005 12:07 PST
My educational institutions don't have microfilm of the Chicago Daily
Tribune, therefore I need a digital replica of the front page of the
Chicago Daily Tribue (Feb. 23rd 1905), found via internet

If someone can find a copy and send it to me as an attachment that would be fine.

Hello.

There are, in fact, some old archived articles available online for
the Chicago Trib, but the coverage is spotty.

In fact, there is only one article included in the archives for
2/23/1905, with the headline:

February 23, 1905
20 YEARS HUSBAND HE IS LOVER STILL
Theodore Sutro of New York Sends Missives to Wife on Each Anniversary.
IS ARDENT IN DEVOTIONS.
His "Dearest One" Has Assertions Perpetual Love Printed as Gifts

The article is about a husband whose continual expressions of love
over the years have put his friends to shame. His wife had his
letters bound as book.

There is no page number given, so I don't know if this is front page
or not. I can't post the article image in full, as it is protected by
copyright.

Beyond that, though, I can find nothing online, and the only recourse
seems a visit to a library with the microfilms for the Trib.

Hope that helps.

The cover of the Chicago Daily Tribune will have a major heading at
the top titled "Chicago Daily Tribune". Below it there should be the
date Feb 23rd 1905; i saw a copy of it when i was in New York at the
public library, but seeing how i'm in San Diego now I don't have
access to that information. Therefore, I will need more than just a
bit of an article from the paper, but rather the entire front page.

Sorry...haven't been able to find an online source for this.

There are plenty of other newspaper archives available online for 2/23/1905.
Does it have to be the Chicago Tribune...?

Marimar --

You're highly unlikely to find the Chicago Tribune that far back. The
newspaper's own archives only run to January, 1985 -- which is about
typical for a major city newspaper:

The New York Times and a select number of other newspapers go that far
back. Your best bet would be to ask a researcher to find microfilm
collections in libraries near you.

Well actually, if you can prove to me that the Chicago Tribune wasn't
the biggest newspaper in the greater Chicago area, I would be willing
to accept a picture of the cover of the biggest newspaper in that area
on February 23rd 1905
