What should I make for dinner tonight that doesn't take too long to make? (NB:This isn't necessarily supposed to be a valentine's dinner) I have frozen ground beef, frozen chicken, garlic, onions, steak sauce, various soups, rice, cucumber, carrots, red kidney beans, many spices, roasted garlic and tomato pasta sauce, meat ravioli, frozen garlic bread, red&white wine. I'm willing to make a quick trip to the store for a great recipe. |

Dear Camradini, First of all, I hope that you had a romantic dinner! - Appetizer: garlic bread (frozen) For another quick version, see: BBC: Quick Garlic Bread <http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/quickgarlicbread_70366.shtml> - Main course: Italian Meatballs <http://southernfood.about.com/od/meatballs/r/blbb628.htm> On the side: Rice cooked in one of the soups, might be with some of the vegetables. You need to steer it once in a while, but could handle the rest of the stuff in the meanwhile, unless you're a real disaster in the kitchen. Quick Risotto <http://www.geocities.com/webcipes2/rice/r53.html> On the side 2: fresh salad (tomato, cucumber, a bit of that parmasan from the meatballs; or, if you're already at the stores anyways: all types of green leaves - esp. "baby" ones - plus some nuts, and parmasan/cheese topping: you can always buy one of these dressings! <http://www.cooks.com/rec/doc/0,1841,152172-236195,00.html>) Dessert: Chocolate, but of course: Quick Chocolate Fudge Sauce <http://www.101recipes.com/recipe.html?cookbook=desert&category=chocolate&name=Quick+Chocolate+Fudge+Sauce> You have to buy: Parmesan (for meat balls, but also for salad dressing etc.) Salad Greens I am glad that it worked out for you! |

Just an idea: - appetizer: garlic bread (+ option: some mushrooms in herb/butter/garlic? <http://www.napastyle.com/kitchen/recipes/recipe.jsp?recipe_id=110>). - Main course: Meatballs <http://southernfood.about.com/od/meatballs/r/blbb628.htm> On the side: Rice cooked in one of the soups, might be with some of the vegetables. You need to steer it once in a while, but could handle the rest of the stuff in the meanwhile, unless you're a real disaster in the kitchen. "baby" ones - plus some nuts, and parmasan/cheese topping: you can always buy one of these dressings! <http://www.cooks.com/rec/doc/0,1841,152172-236195,00.html>) Dessert: Chocolate, but of course: Quick Chocolate Fudge Sauce <http://www.101recipes.com/recipe.html?cookbook=desert&category=chocolate&name=Quick+Chocolate+Fudge+Sauce> You have to buy: Mushrooms Parmesan (for meat balls, but also for salad dressing etc.) Chocolate Salad Greens I hope this helps. Tell me if you want me to post it as an official answer. |

politicalguru, those ideas sound good to me. I'll give it a go tonight. I think I'll do simple garlic gread though, as my girlfriend doesn't like mushrooms. I actually already have some chocolate sauce in the fridge (melted chocolate chips) so get some fruit and just heat up the sauce. Thanks for ideas/links, Feel free to post as the answer, |
