Using adobe Pagemaker 6.5 with text and .JPG images in the file, when
I export it to a .PDF only the first and last image in the document
are positioned correctly, the remainder of the images show up in the
center of the page rather than their correct position.

This is because the image/s that shifts could possibly be off the page
in Pagemaker? i.e. it is half on the page, half on the paste
board.....so then it gets converted to PDF it tries to shift it onto
the page maybe...?

I am not extremely familiar with these products, personally. I assume
you are exporting all at once. Have you tried transferring ONLY the
text first, and then manually adding the pictures, one-by-one,
afterward. There may be something being lost in the conversion that
might be able to be tricked into working by breaking down the transfer
in parts. Again, I have not used these particulat products, but this
sounds similar to a problem I have had transferring things between
Microsoft products. Good luck! (and sorry I couldn't be of more
help...)

The image files are all within the page. I have created the files
several diferent waya and in different sizes, same result. The first
and last image file in the document are positioned correctly, all in
between move to the center of the page.

Do you export the file directly out of PageMaker into a .PDF file?
Have tried creating a postscript file and then using Acrobat Distiller
to make the .PDF?

This may sound silly...but if the program has a print preview option,
click it and see if the images still appear this way within this mode.
Sometimes, the computer is not designed to handle graphics-intensive
work and it spits out something that looks terrible, and appears to be
a software problem, but that is actually a hardware problem. Try
printing what you have, and see if it prints correctly. This might be
a whole different approach to the problem. You see, I used to have
the problem of Word putting pics all over the page, over text, and in
all of the wrong pages. I was about to give up on Microsoft forever
when I printed it, and it all looked great. Needless to say, I now
have a sweet, sweet computer and that old computer is but a distand
memory. I doubt that is your problem, but HEY! it can't hurt to try!
:)
Tell me if you work it out...

Hi asmb35

I have this same problem with Adobe Table 3.0 items, especially when
using Distiller to do my pdf's. I could get it to work with the pdf
printer, but the quality of the document is very poor when compared to
distiller. I still have no solution to the problem when using
PageMaker 6.5 and Acrobat 4.0. However, I recently installed
PageMaker 7.0; the same problem happened with it and Acrobat 4.0, but
when I upgraded to Acrobat 5.05 it disappeared. I've searched the
Adobe support website for an answer, but could not find one. It seems
the only permanent solution costs a good deal of money.
