I own a large forum. I have just placed all public links into a php redirect file (much like a cgi bin)that I deny access to all bot's via the robots.txt file. Now, I have just read this: ://www.google.com/googleblog/2005/01/preventing-comment-spam.html Should I redo my work and simply put the rel="nofollow" in the link? Or am I ok with my current method. The end result should be the same, I just want to make sure that all bots and engines still love me at the end of the day. |

Obvously the problem stems from posts such as: I've always thought that aliens have been among us for years and I have a picture of one <a href="http://www.scamsite.com/">here</a>. So long as you do one of the following, you're fine: 1) This is the method it sounds like you are using. It will work fine: I've always thought that aliens have been among us for years and I have a picture of one <a href="http://www.myforum.com/getlink.php&id=123456">here</a>. 2) This is the method google is suggesting: I've always thought that aliens have been among us for years and I have a picture of one <a href="http://www.scamsite.com/" rel="nofollow">here</a>. |
