For non-commercial vehicles you need to remember that many OEMs are
offering this option on new cars and small trucks - for commercial
vehicles I believe this is already widely offered on new units.

I personally installed a tire pressure system on my new Chevy Astro
van a few years ago and wouldn't be without one but no one I've shown
it to seems to have grasped the benefits of constantly monitoring both
the vehicle tires and especially trailer tires.

I just got mine from TireRack.com

Just a few thoughts.
