Many of the companies in this sector trade on low PE ratios(historic
and prospective). Examples of such companies are(ISE codes):
BDEV,BWY,BVS,CRST,MCTY,PSN,TWOD,WBY,WLB and WMPY. No other category of
UK shares have such low PERs (in a search of companies with market
capitalisations of £350 million and above). I also believe that this
has usually been the case over the last decade or more. Why is this?
It should be noted that the companies in question have done extremely
well and I do not believe many publicly quoted companies in the sector
have gone bankrupt.Furthermore the demand for housing in the UK is
very robust. Finally who, if anyone, provides historic charts of UK
company (not sectors) PE ratios?
