My nephew turns 13 shortly. I'd like to give him a humorous, light hearted book that talks about how to understand parents at this stage of life. I'd like to find another book written for parents in the same humorous vein that talks about how to understand and survive raising teenage children. If either or both sneak in a serious message, that's a plus. Any suggestions? |

Thank you for the suggestions. The Dave Barry book sounds good for my sister. The Adrian Mole book is centered in British culture; I'm not sure if my nephew would relate to it. |

How about Get Out of My Life, but First Could You Drive Me and Cheryl to the Mall?: A Parent's Guide to the New Teenager by Anthony E. Wolf or Take Out Your Nose Ring, Honey, We're Going to Grandma's: Hanging In, Holding On and Letting Go of Your Teen By Barbara Cooke, MS and Carleton Kendrick, Ed.M., LCSW http://www.teensarenotadisease.com/book.htm Yes, Your Teen Is Crazy!: Loving Your Kid without Losing Your Mind Michael J. Bradley, I'm not sure if your son will enjoy Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul but my daughter loves the book as most of the book is written by teens themselves Rose |

Thank you for the excellent suggestions for parents. My nephew would not relate well to Chicken Soup for the Soul. I am still in the market for a good suggestion for him. |

Psychologist Anthony Wolf's books are good and full of good advice: Here's a link to his _Get Out of My Life, but First Could You Drive Me & Cheryl to the Mall: A Parent's Guide to the New Teenager_ http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0374528535/qid=1109643334/sr=8-4/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i4_xgl14/104-2389904-1411918?v=glance&s=books&n=507846 And his _I'll Be Home By Midnight and I Won't Get Pregnant_ is even funnier -- and it's mostly in comic strip form. |

Oh, Statman. I'm feeling you, big time. My eldest son will be thirteen in just a few months, I'm looking for the same things. The Dave Barry book is utterly hilarious, I recommend it highly for anyone about to step onto the Adolescent Rollercoaster. --Missy |

Thanks for the great suggestions for books written for parents of teenagers. Freaky Friday I don't think appeals to young boys. Am still looking for humorous/helpful titles that would make a good gift for the teenager as they enter this important phase of life. |

The Adam B. "First French Kiss" is much closer to the ticket for a teenage boy. Can you suggest another book in case Mom has some problems with the title of this one? |
