Backup-Dell Installed Programs
I have dell dimensions 4500 with XP. When I try to run the program,
sometimes a window pops up saying "Backup Dell-Installed Programs The
feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk
that is not available. Insert the 'Backup Dell-Installed Programs'
disk and click OK. Use feature from 1. OK or Cancel"

If I choose OK at this point: 
"Backup Dell-Installed Programs 
The path '1' cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this
location and try again, or try to find the installation package
DellBckp.msi in a folder from which you can install the Backup
Dell-Installed Programs. OK"

If I choose Cancel: 
"Backup Dell-Installed Programs 
Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product Backup
Dell-Installed Program.s The Windwos Installer cannot continue. OK"

Choosing OK at this point: 
"Preparing to install...gathering required information 
Please wait while windows configures Backup Dell-Installed Programs" 
and it starts again at the beginning.

By continually clicking Cancel and OK the message box eventually closes.
Is there something in the registry to fix this? Talking to Dell is useless!!

Have you tried searching the Registry for the string
"Dell-Installed"? That might well be enlightening.

You have to put the microsoft Office CD and insert the cd and select
the repair and then reinstall it and it will be fixed.

Does "repairing" Office solve error 1706 or the "Backup-Dell Installed
Programs" error
