What syscall will tell me the serial number of my processor?  I have
an Intel Pentium 4, and am running kernel 2.4.26.

Hello Martinsz,

Unless you patch your kernel, the general answer for your question is:
  - you can't
This is because the kernel will "disable" the CPU serial number
shortly after the system boots. See

  linux "cpu serial number disabled"

Interesting.  I've heard conflicting reports - someone told me that
Intel stopped putting serial numbers in their chips after the Pentium
III.  Can anyone verify this?  Recompiling the kernel is not a
problem.
