Looking for info on robbery which occurred at the big pineapple. Was
reported in local papers The Courier Mail & the Sunday Telegraph at
the time, but their records online only go back to 1984. I have very
old clippings of suspects at th time & police inspector that was
hoping to catch them, but have no dates on the clipping. Have tried
searching big pinapple websites for info, but no mention & as said
local papers seem not to have kept records that far back. I don't know
where else to look.

No online records seem to be available going back to the 1970's, but a
1993 article in the Sunday Mail makes the following reference:


"...thieves broke into the Big Pineapple to cut open a safe containing 
$11,500 with an oxy torch on September 11, 1978.  They set alight to
the building, and the resultant blaze was estimated to have caused
damage of $1 million..."

P.S. There are also lots of archived articles about the robbers making
the Top 10 Most Wanted list, but these are all in later years.
