Hello cupcake-ga,
According to pottymouth.org
http://www.pottymouth.org/wetspot/wetspot077.html
"Now, sperm can live inside of a woman's body for two to five days, or
up to a week if they reach the fallopian tubes. A woman's reproductive
tract is hostile territory for sperm. The pH of the vagina kills off
most of them, and of the one percent that make it past the mucus plug
at the bottom of the cervix, most end up in the wrong tube."
another source Parents Place.com - Peg Plumbo CNM certified midwife
( http://www.parentsplace.com/expert/midwife/qas/0,10338,166257_100261,00.html
)
says "Sperm are generally thought to survive around 72 hours, but it
may be shorter or longer, depending on whether the cervical mucus is
hospitable. If the pH of the vagina is hostile during the
non-ovulatory portion of your cycle, due to infection or in the
presence of a spermicide.."
Go Ask Alice says ( http://www.goaskalice.columbia.edu/0797.html )
"Sperm live inside a vagina for about three to five days. The
important thing about your question is that if you have sex without
using contraception up to five days before an egg bursts from the
ovary (ovulation), the egg could be fertilized. For example, you could
have sex on Monday and fertilize an egg that is not released until
Friday"
In summary, and based on averages from various sources above, the
sperm could still be alive on Saturday and is certainly not an
impossibility. If fresh sperm was introduced on Saturday that would
simply introduce another 3-5 day window for pregnancy regardless of
the first batch of sperm dying or surviving.
I hope that helps your understanding on the matter,
if I haven't answered the question to your satisfaction please ask for
clarification : -)
kind regards
