Ok. I'm pretty sure that to achieve a perfect solution you will need to get someone to program and implement this one for you. I doubt there is an existing system freely available. However I've got an imperfect solution for you. It sounds like you want to host an internet talk show. So I would be inclined to set up a Shoutcast Server so that people can hit a link on your website that opens up their MP3 player. Shoutcast is really easy to set up if you know what you are doing but can be tricky if you're inexperienced, give it a try they have great tutorials on the website http://www.shoutcast.com As for the microphone communication I would download Roger Wilco from http://www.resounding.com and set up the Shoutcast server so it picks up all sound on your computer, therefore listeners to the shoutcast stream will be able to hear the microphone conversation. The microphone comms uses very little bandwidth and as its vocal you can set the sound quality very low so have hundreds of people listening to your stream with bandwidth to spare. Sorry if none of this makes sense. If you need help setting any of it up post your MSN contact or email address and i'll contact you. Hope it helps. |

I have not used this feature but AOL Instant Messenger and Yahoo Messenger (maybe MSN Messenger too) allow you to chat with users using a Microphone. People could even chat with you the old-fashioned way by using the keyboard. It is faster than email. So sign up for AOL IM, Yahoo Messenger, and MSN Messenger. They are all free. |

The suggestion about using Shoutcast with a voice chat program is feasible, but will only work with two sound cards, generally speaking. This is because a standard sonud card has only one recording device available. Both Shoutcast and Voice chat need to record microphone/wav input and will fight over this capability. You can install a second low-cost sound card and run a wire from the speaker out on one card to line in on the other card to get around this. As for setting up a Shoutcast server, you are limited by the amount of upload bandwidth taht you are allowed to use from your provider. For example, if you are given 128K of upload bandwidth, you'll only be able to have 4 or 5 listeners with a modem-quality SHoutcast stream or 2 listeners with a 56K broadband stream. Hope this helps. |
