I need a simple audio editing app to cut and paste parts of a long
voice recording into smaller files and save those files out as
(preferably) mp3s (or wave if need be).

Something simple that won?t eat up lots of the CPU. Something that
will operate under a Terminal Server.

It does not need to record, just chop up a existing mono voice
recording (wave or mp3).

Simple and small are the key words here.

Terminal server transfers audio to the thin client (Remote Desktop
Client) and I have used it with windows media player, so no problem
there.

thanx in advnce

Hi!!

There are two programs that I can recommend to you, both are freeware
and use not many system resources. One program splits mp3 files and
the other splits wav files:

MP3Cutter 4:
MP3Cutter is a simple utility that enables you to cut out pieces of a
MP3 without having to decode that MP3 to a non-encoded PCM
(wave)-file.
MP3Cutter cuts the MP3 at the frame level so it doesn't degrade the
quality of your MP3.

To download it:
http://home.hccnet.nl/p.luijer/mp3cutter40534.zip

Unzip the file in a specific folder for this program (call it
mp3cutter if you like) and read the Readme file to see instructions
for use it.

Wave Splitter:
Wave Splitter from Claudiosoft is a freeware utility that allows you
to extract a sample from a .wav file without loading it into memory.
No matter how big your source wave file is (it may be hundreds of
megabytes!), if you want to sample a part of it, you can do it very
quickly, without wasting RAM.

To download it:
http://claudiosoft.online.fr/wavsplit.html#download

Simply unzip the file to a directory of your choice and run the
executable file from there.

If you like a single program that do both tasks try with "Power MP3 Cutter":
"What can MP3 Sound Cutter cut?
1. Cut mp3 from big mp3 sound file
2. Cut mp3 from big wav sound file
3. Cut wav from big mp3 sound file
4. Cut wav from big wav sound file
5. Convert wav to mp3
6. Convert mp3 to wav
7. Recompress mp3 with different bit rate"

This is a shareware program which costs $19.95, you can download a
free trial from here:

I hope that this helps you. Feel free to request for a clarification
if you need it.

Regards.
