A expensive North Face Gortex jacket I bought in 1998 doesn?t seem to
be waterproof anymore.   I have used it a total of maybe 45 days.

I used it in a rainstorm last weekend and got soaked. I haven?t washed
it in a short while. I heard Gortex needs to be properly cleaned to
keep its waterproof qualities.  I also heard that it wears out (is
this true?)

I heard there were places I could send it that could properly wash and
re-waterproof it.  I know Nikwax makes products that claim to
re-waterproof Gortex, but I want someone else to do it.

Can you send me any links to such a place or give me advice on what is
shown to be effective for this.

Also, does it really wear out?
