Question ID: 476985
I had an abdominal ultrasound today (2-18-05) Based on Abdominal pain,
abdomnial swelling and firmness, Possible Hepatitis blood test
results, enlarged liver etc... During the test the sonagrapher x'ed
and circled and enlarged many areas that looked to me like black
circles. I have a bad feeling! Is there any way to find out what this
means before Tuesday when I meet with my doctor,or a web site I can
ask a radiologist questions regarding abnormal liver ultrasound
results? Is it normal for sonographers to x things and enlarge areas
and circle them?

remember that the sonographer has to document shape, size and texture
of all your organs - some of that "X-ing" and circling was probably
measurements being taken. If you could understand and interpret the
images there would be no need for us to go to university and get a
degree!

If ultrasound interpretation techniques were easily accessable, you
wouldn't need to pay for such doctors who go through such education
and come up with such SPECIAL revelations.

-from a doctor himself

ps. It time to take our health in our own hands more often
