Every time I open up Outlook, I get the "Enter Network Password
Prompt" window that asks me to enter my password. Although my e-mail
account settings are correct and I have checked the retain password
checkbox, I get this password every time I open up Outlook. I have
done quite a bit of research on this and it seems that similar
problems are quite common and hard to get rid of.
In my case, Outlook retains the password after I enter it for as long
as I have the program open. Once I close Outlook and re-open it, I get
prompted again.
I have tried the following:
- Created a new Outlook profile
- Created a new Outlook profile in another windows profile
- Configured another e-mail account
- Configured e-mail in Outlook Express
- Tried the following Microsoft Support: Q264672 (which makes you take
out a registry key)
None of these worked. I still get the same results and need help!!! |

Hi sb1966,
Please let me know if this solves it for you.
The Elder Geek on Windows XP:
Password Is Not Saved in Outlook or Outlook Express:
Problem:
"You are repeatedly prompted to enter your password in Outlook Express
or Outlook in spite of how many times you have checked the [Save
Password] box. There have been a number of different solutions offered
on the internet, some very similar in nature. This is a compilation of
those different methods that to the best of my knowledge should work
for the majority of situations."

Hi Hummer,
Thanks for the suggestion, but this re-iterates the content of the
Microsoft Support Q264672, which I have already tried. Any other
suggestions?

Hi sb1966,
Computing.net Forum:
"Control Panel->Internet Options->Content->Personal
Information->AutoComplete button.
Enable -> User names and passwords
Disable -> Prompt me to save passwords
I then went though the account list and removed the "Remember
password" check. Closed OL. Opened OL and re-entered the PWs and
everything works fine now."

Hi Hummer,
My settings are already set to what the article is suggesting.
Maybe this piece of additional info helps:
I enter the password in E-Mail accounts and check Remember Password.
Then, when I close out Outlook and open it up again, I get the prompt
again. When I go into E-Mail accounts, the box in which I had entered
the password is empty. So, somehow, this box loses the information
every time Outlook is closed.
