I was interested in your reply to a question on how long financial
records should be stored, also your previous profession.

Six Years sounds right to me - both for the IR and Company records

I would be interested if you would search GA for: frde-ga agolem-ga
You'll get my first post - T-Mobile a/c records

I would be interested in your views.

Dear frde-ga
Thank you for asking me on this question, but I?m not sure I can add
any further information. Most telephone/mobile companies provide
itemised billing for their customers if they require it, and under the
terms and conditions of the contract, historical billing records are
available to them ? often this is only 6 months. There?s no
requirement on this.

My fellow researcher, Endo-ga, quite correctly observed that because
of the Data Protection Act, the phone company will not supply any
information on a customer?s account unless that is to the customer or
by way of a Court Order.

The police can gain access to the records under various Acts of Parliament.

The companies are under no requirement to save the itemised billing or
communications data ? although this may change under the
Anti-Terrorism Bill 2002.

The companies will keep financial records for their accounts and tax
purposes but these are not necessarily the same as itemised billing
records. I think it would vary from company to company.

I would be reluctant to say what the current position is as to the
availability of itemised billing. I will say that my previous career
finished in 2001, so I do not have current information or knowledge,
and this type of information would not be available on the internet.

You may find these comments on the Anti-Terrorism Bill 2002 of interest.

Many Thanks - would you post that as an answer (or a 'see above')

I wanted your view on whether it is likely that the detailed call list
still exists and that is what you've provided.

I must confess I had been hoping that they would be classed as
'Financial Records' and therefore fall under the six year rule.
Such is life. Regards - Jerry

Oh dear, Jerry

You are usually so switched on that I find it hard to believe that you
were not aware that the talented Answerfinder was not a member of the
legendary Fraud Squad ... the guys who always wear a smile as well as
a Kalenshikov.

Steph ... do you really have a button on your back?

Mine's on my front ... in the middle of my belly.

I always suspected women were different.

Jerry,
Thanks, but I?ll leave it at that. You can have this one on me as I do
not think that I supplied in any way a full and complete answer to
your question (especially for your generous price). Another time,
another question perhaps.
Good luck.

As a matter of courtesy, and principle, please claim the question.

Regarding the aforementioned link... I think I've fixed it. There are
new advances coming to that site, hopefully this week.

On topic: I try to scan receipts and store them on CD's so they stay
indefinitely. If I need a copy, I can view and print them.
