Thanks in advance for reviewing my question,
Wanted - Program that runs a 2nd copy of applications from sequentially disk.
I am looking for a similar program to the one mentioned below that creates a
2nd copy of selected applications where the 2nd copy is loaded from
disk sequentially in order to launch applications much faster. The
program preferably needs to run on windows XP (my OS).
Description:
Years ago (1997?) I used a software program, possibly called winstart or
winstart.bat, but can't be certian on the title. The program was free
or free to try. I ran it on Win95, and possibly Win98. My hunch is
the company no longer exists.
The program was installed on the computer, and once initially set up,
would load your applications about 4 times faster than normal.
You can choose which of your applications you want to include. When
running the initialization process, the program ran the application(s)
you selected, and recorded the order in which files / parts of files?
were accessed.
Next the program created a brand new second copy of the application.
The copy was layed out to be in the exact sequential order that the
application requires to initially load.
Then, whenever you run one of your applications, you click on a link,
instead of the real application icon. This starts a sequential read of the
application's copy.
There are currently other unreleated "winstart" programs floating
around. (I don't think the program had winstart.exe) Again, I
can't be sure it's called winstart.

The program I'm looking for must create an optimized 2nd copy
on disk of the seleceted applications.
I am aware Windows can optimize programs to load faster during a defrag.
Possible keywords that may help?
"load faster"
sequentially
linearly
copy
