For the longest time I have wanted to change of my business. Finally I
am going to take the plunge this year. I already know the legal ways
to this along with all the to-do?s (like business cards, signs,
letterhead and so on)

My question is what is an effective way to make this announcement on my website?

I have a wedding photography business. I don?t want my clients to
think it is under new ownership.

If I knew the addy of your website I could give you a better view. As
I don't have that what I would do is put a big notice up and have a
link to a letter explaining the name change. If you do alot of
buisness name changing with out the proper advertising could be bad.
If you do this also I would say make sure that you put something about
new name same great service on the website. So people will know that
it is still you.

Hi ChristopherJ,

No one likes change for the sake of change. Never refer to a negative
for the reason of change. Refer to the positive.

In re-naming your business, have a think about this: "Our business
name was appropriate then .. we have decided to change our name to
further/properly reflect our commitment to you .. our customer".

Yes, I know it's all bulls**t, but it should be viewed from the
customer's angle, not from an internal preference of terminology.

A change can also increase your visibility so rather than the
negatives that have already been expressed let me assume the name
change is particularily relevant to your photography business.
I trade as Concept Images ( www.conceptimages.org and
www.conceptimages.net) but for purposes of wedding photographic
services here on the Sunshine Coast of Australia I also run
www.conceptweddings.com Concept Weddings this has increased exposure
to my fantastic photographic services.
