Someone else was puzzled by this word in the lyrics of the Green Day
album,Kerplunk. I'll not spoil a good read for you by quoting from
that website.

You'll enjoy the interpretation they offer which involves the green
mineral, malachite(. : a mineral that is a green basic carbonate of
copper used as an ore and for making ornamental objects)

Note that this word does not appear in any of the other Kerplunk
lyrics.

In response to an outraged grandmother, Billie Joe offered that he
wrote his lyrics for himself, not for grandmothers or 8 year old
grandchildren.
Perhaps, the mystery is as simple as Billie Joe wishing to associate
with a certain color, or malakite might very well be an amusing word
that popped into his head during his creative spurt.

Maybe if the group had named itself "Blue Day," the line would have
been "she likes to sit on my lapis."

Malachite is a semiprecious stone. Cu2(CO3)(OH)2 or Copper Carbonate Hydroxide.

When polished it's a nice shade of green and is often used in jewelry.
